The Power to Change My Life

Pastor: Jeff Bedwell Scripture: John 20:19–31

Easter 2018:

The Power To Change My Life:

John 20:19-31:

having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places,” (Ephesians 1:18–20)

The Resurrected Lord Changes:

  1. My Fear to Courage (19-23)

Fear often Paralyzes (19)

Jesus Did Four Things for Them

  • He Came to them (19)
  • He Reassured them (20)
  • He Commissioned them (21)
  • He Empowered them (22-23)

God will never ask us to do anything that He will not empower us to do.

  1. My Doubt to Faith (24-29)

This was not the doubt of a Skeptic, this was the doubt born of Sorrow

Doubt can creep into our lives through:

  • Relationships
  • Failure
  • Circumstances

Jesus did not strongly Rebuke or Condemn Thomas.

Very often, if we will allow Him, God will take our doubts and Meet us there.

  1. Death to Life (30-31)

In Jesus Christ, God desires that we have:

  • Abundant life

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10)

  • Eternal life

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

The reality of Sin prevents us from having the life God intended for us to live.

Jesus Christ lived, died and rose again in order that He might give to us life as God intended it to be!

How Do I Experience

This Life Changing Power?

  • Recognize
  • Renounce
  • Rely

Making It Personal:

  • Have I genuinely experienced the life changing power of the resurrection in my life through renouncing my sin and relying totally on the finished work of Jesus Christ?
  • Where in my life do I need to experience a fresh touch of God’s power?
  • Who can I share these truths with?
