What did you pray about last week?

What you Pray about reflects what you really Believe about God!

  • No God – No prayers
  • God doesn’t really answer prayers – Rare prayers
  • “Emergency only God” – Desperation prayers
  • God exists for me – Selfish prayers
  • Small God – Small prayers
  • Big God – Bold prayers

Bold prayers honor God, and God honors bold prayers

God who desires to answer our prayers, asks us to do six things:

1. Recognize our need – God is my only source (32:1-3)

Every miracle begins with a Problem

2. Listen – God has the answer (32:6-8)

  • Be Open to the possibilities with God
  • Be Sensitive to the preparation of God

3. Obey – God’s ways are always right (32:9-14)

We are called to pray and obey

Too often we pray and Weigh

Jeremiah’s Obedience Was:

  • Immediate
  • Public
  • Complete

4. Praise – Our God is an awesome God (32:16-22)

“When we praise God for mercies, we prolong them; when we praise God for miseries, we usually end them.” C. H. Spurgeon

5. Trust – God is in control (32:23-44)

God knows what He is about!

6. Call on Him – God is ready to answer His people (33:1-3)

God invites us to pray, commands us to pray, encourages us to pray

One Key Question

“Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. 'Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.'” (Matthew 26:40–41)

Develop a Rhythm of Prayer

  • Daily as an individual
  • Weekly with your household and/or a small group
  • Monthly as a church family (Fresh Encounter Prayer Service – First Wednesday evening of every month)

Bold prayers honor God, and God honors bold prayers

Making It Personal

What does your current practice of prayer say about what you really believe about God?

What bold prayers will you call out to God about this year? For yourself? Your family? Our church? Christ’s Kingdom? Our nation? For others?

Will you commit yourself to developing a rhythm of prayer? Specifically what will that look like for you? Where will you begin?
