Inseparable & Unconquerable

Pastor: Jeff Bedwell Series: The Great Eight Scripture: Romans 8:31– :39

The Great Eight
Inseparable & Unconquerable
Romans 8:31-39

It is the view from the mountaintops that gives us the perspective and strength to navigate the valleys of our lives!

Five Unshakeable Assurances

1. God is For Us (31)

This does not mean that there will not be Any opposition, but that ultimately there will be no successful opposition.

One of the enemy’s oldest tricks is to get us to Doubt goodness and purposes of God

“My concern is not whether God is on our side, but whether we are on His side.” Abraham Lincoln

Pivotal Question: Am I With God?

Could it be that sometimes we struggle to believe that God is 100% for us because we are not 100% for God?

2. God will Give To Us (32)

Paul argues from the Greater to the Lesser here

“The cross is a guarantee of the continuing unfailing generosity of God.” John Stott

“For all the promises of God find their Yes in him.” (2 Corinthians 1:20)

God will Provide everything we need to do His will

3. God will not Condemn Us (33-34)

Forgiveness is not saying that sin Doesn’t Matter; it is saying that it matters enough for Christ to give His life for us

  • Jesus Died for me
  • Jesus Lives for me
  • Jesus Intercedes for me

Jesus is pleading our case – we should plead The Blood

“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)

4. God will make us Victorious (37)

God doesn’t guarantee us Immunity from life’s challenges, He guarantees us Victory over life’s challenges

No Test – No Testimony

  • Pride – Believing something about yourself that is not true
  • False Humility – Not believing something about myself that is true
  • True Humility – Seeing myself as God sees me No More and No Less

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:57)

5. God will not Leave Us (35-36, 38-39)

Like Paul, we can live with confidence and courage based on a Conviction about God’s love for us

A picture of the peace that comes from a conviction about God’s presence, power and love – Acts 12

“Now when Herod was about to bring him out, on that very night, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries before the door were guarding the prison.”
(Acts 12:6)

Note the last words of this chapter: “In Christ Jesus our Lord.”

“For all the promises of God find their Yes in him.” (2 Corinthians 1:20)

Question: Is Christ Jesus truly my Lord?

Making It Personal

  • How will I keep the truths and promises of Romans 8 before me in the days and weeks ahead?
  • What truth from today’s teaching do I most need to focus my thoughts and actions on?
  • In light of these powerful truths from Romans 8, the step of obedience/risk that God is calling me to take is:
